THE brutal killings of three people including a mother and son in Mtunzini, has left the community in shock. Residents raised their safety concerns after the two separate and unrelated vicious murders last week.
A 58-year-old woman and her 35-year-old son were gunned down at Inteneshane Reserve on Monday. It is alleged that an unknown assailant forced entry into their roundavel and sprayed the place with bullets.
A shot penetrated the mother’s forehead and twice in her lower back, while the son also sustained a bullet wound to the head. They both died on the scene.
Another murder
The incident followed the murder of a local liquor store manager at Intshekhombe Bottle Store on Wednesday.
According to the police, Sipho Nsibande (53) was gunned down in the trading premises by an unknown gunman.
They said Nsibande was with his girlfriend when a man entered the bottle store and started shooting.
He died at the scene after sustaining a bullet wound to the head, while his partner was rushed to Ngwelezana Hospital for medical attention.
At the scene police found Nsibande’s car also sprayed with seven bullets.
Nothing was taken from the premises.
Mtunzini police spokesperson Lt Sbusiso Guma, said police have been deployed in the area to closely watch for any violent activities.
‘If anyone has information about these two unfortunate incidents, they must contact our police station,’ he said.
