THANKS to Vodacom Millionaires, three schools in Pongola now have a state-of-the-art computer centre to help with both effective teaching methods and pupils getting to grips with technology.
Sebenzakanzima Secondary, Pongola Intermediate and Empucukweni Primary Schools each received 20 laptops for pupils, one laptop for teachers, an interactive whiteboard, projector, server, printer, cartridges and data.
All donated equipment is maintained by Vodacom for two years and teachers will receive training and continued support through a dedicated call centre.
The donation forms part of Vodacom’s commitment to providing technology and internet connectivity to communities.
Through Vodacom Millionaires, the company donates four fully equipped computer centres to schools across the country each month.
‘Supporting education is the main focus of the Vodacom Foundation,’ said Vodacom Chief Officer Corporate Affairs, Maya Makanjee.
‘The Vodacom Millionaires initiative reflects our commitment to help improve the standard and quality of education in our country.’
‘Being a rural school, we are thrilled that Vodacom has such initiatives that will help us improve how we deliver education and help our learners get familiar with paperless classes,’ said Pongola Intermediate School Principal, Kaizer Nxumalo.
Now in its tenth year, the Vodacom Millionaires initiative has benefited over 270 000 pupils in South Africa and encourages all public schools in need of computer centres to apply.
