PONGOLA’S Riaan Durand was the first man to cross the line at the inaugural Amorello MTB Challenge near Hluhluwe on Saturday, clocking two hours, eight minutes and four seconds,
Durand competed in the men’s 40-60+ age category and managed an average speed of 23.43km/h for the 50km race.
The first woman to complete the 50km MTB challenge was Daniella Lahav from Ladysmith, who crossed the line in a time of two hours, 29 minutes and 12 seconds. Lahav competed in the ladies’ 19-39 age category and was placed third overall.
