Zululand Gospel Choir goes international

It's all systems go for the Zululand Gospel Choir as they head to the Czech Republic.

MEMBERS of the Zululand Gospel Choir are gearing up for an experience of a lifetime, undertaking a musical journey to the Czech Republic next month.

Performing at the concert ‘In the name of love – Music Against Violence’, the choir will be joined by internationally renowned artist Lucie Kostelecká when they take part in their debut international performance.

After battling with sponsorship, the National Lottery came to the party and assisted with the choir’s flight tickets and accommodation.

The choir seeks further funding however for new uniforms to tie it all together.

Established in 2006 by Franklyn Mkhize and Alfred Banda of G-tazz Records, the choir consists of 25 members and a five-piece band.

All members range between the ages of 18 and 35.

Most members are unemployed, making this trip a truly special experience.

The choir will depart on 24 September and return on 5 October.
