UPDATE: Brackenham hijacking fraud accused found guilty

Brackenham resident convicted on insurance related fraud charges.

BRACKENHAM resident Thrishane Govender was found guilty in the Richards Bay Magistrate’s Court of insurance fraud and defeating the ends of justice.

The 25-year-old was convicted on charges of defeating the ends of justice after opening a false case of hijacking at Richards Bay SAPS on 29 November 2013, and fraud for submitting a false insurance claim.

His bail of R50 000 was extended.

Govender claimed he was hijacked in Brackenham, robbed of his BMW and belongings and dropped off at the information board on the North Central Arterial between Aquadene and Brackenham.
