Carding off a fine victory
Jughdis and Van der Merwe claimed the A Division titles at the Sanlam Cancer golf day.
JACKSON Jughdis and Twiggy van der Merwe scooped the men and ladies’ A division title during the Sanlam Cancer Golf Day at the Richards Bay Country Club on Saturday.
A total of 81 golfers took to the challenging Richards Bay course in support of a well organised day, following an IPS format over 18 holes.
Jackson who plays off a 9 handicap, carded 40 points to win the men’s section.
His round included seven pars and three birdies.
He shot 40 on the front nine and bettered his play on the back nine, shooting 36 to end on 76 after his round.
This was an impressive comeback in the second nine, where Jackson managed birdies on the 13th, 15th and 16th to end five over par for the day.
Twiggy dominated in the ladies section, carding 39 points off her 14 handicap.
She shot 10 over par on the day, 43 on the first nine and 38 on the back nine (81 total).
Her round included seven pars and one birdie.
She birdied the 17th after a superb tee-shot that left her inches away from the pin.
