Second Melmoth traffic officer arrested

THE Hawks have arrested another Melmoth traffic officer as part of an investigation into alleged bribery.

Sources close to the Zululand Observer confirmed that a second officer was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Unit on Wednesday, but could not elaborate on the charges.

This after a 33-year-old traffic officer was arrested earlier this month, after allegedly soliciting a bribe from a truck driver.

The first suspect appeared at the Melmoth Magistrate’s Court on charges of corruption and was released on bail on Monday.

The investigation is ongoing and the ZO will keep you updated as the story develops.
