Fishing fest hits Richards Bay

THE smell of bait permeated the Meerensee air at the weekend as crowds of fishermen gathered to participate in the annual 21 Species Fishing Festival.

A total of 326 anglers brought their rods along to compete in this year’s competition.

Aside from the high tides and wind speeds forcing boats back to the port on Saturday, the event was a success with many reeling in big catches.

The festival concluded on Sunday where a number of sponsored prizes were handed out to the various category winners.
