I COMMEND the teens from AWOL for giving up a few days of their July holidays to give back to the community.
Teens are often seen as lazy, ill-mannered and delinquent, yet these teens broke the barriers of stereotypes by engaging in various activities throughout their community.
In all aspects of the camp, teens were encouraged to ‘awaken the dream’ and determine what their calling was.
They proved to be hardworking people willing to give back to those in need, which in turn awoke the dream of a community that is more caring and aware.
This came at a great time, especially with Mandela Day approaching. Well done to the teens of AWOL for doing their part in making the City of uMhlathuze a better place.
D GOODEN
