New Chairs take seats at Chamber

MEMBERS of the Zululand Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ZCCI) elected Danny Naidoo as the Richards Bay Division’s Vice Chairman, at the annual general meeting on Thursday.
The owner of both DNK Engineering and Manufacturing and the Richards Bay Technical Training & Assessment Centre has been in business for 25 years.
He joined the Chamber in 1990 and has served as the Chair of the ZCCI’s SMME committee for the past three years.
To top it off, Naidoo serves on the Exco as well as being the Vice President of the entity.
‘I’m proud to be part of the Chamber as an advocacy group and membership-driven organisation,’ said Naidoo.
‘Businesses cannot survive in isolation and it is therefore of paramount importance to be part of a collective, with Chamber at the centre of this collective.’
Engagement
He emphasised the importance of keeping leaders in the private sector well informed on continuous changes in the ‘business sphere’ – from regular amendments in legislation to addressing the scarcity of water and electricity.
‘The Chamber is in constant engagement with stakeholders, be it with other chambers, government, big business, parastatals or water utilities.
‘This is important as the scarcity of water and power will put a damper on foreign investment in our area and we as business cannot wait any longer to advocate for possible solutions.’
Naidoo looks forward to his new position.
‘I will strive to assist with increasing the Chamber’s membership and, more importantly, to increase participation in issues relating to business.
‘I am humbled by my nomination to serve as Vice Chairman for the Richards Bay division and will definitely take this opportunity to make a difference in the business environment.’
