SHE was fiery like her red mane, courageous in battle, tempered in the fires of tribulation and serving as a true soldier of Christ until the end, with an infectious chuckle in the face of adversary.
Heila Nel (39), beloved wife of Adriaan, mother of Allex, Biance and Nicky, intercessor, spiritual warrior and missionary, died suddenly on Saturday night, shortly after a five week trip with Missions for Africa.
Last Sunday, jubilant and victorious, she said Africa changed her outlook on life forever.
‘The people are so poor in material things, but so rich and generous in spirit and sharing.
‘I look at my life through different eyes now and count all our blessings daily.
‘They gave us more than we gave them.’
Jokers
The Throne Room Ministries International team delivered food, clothes, supplies and encouragement to numerous churches in Botswana, Zambia and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Despite a water crisis, poor sanitation, unusual food and facing the unmentionable dangers of Africa, the team, with Heila regularly as main instigator, laughed so much, the jokers were often threatened with camp eviction, so the others could sleep.
She was behind the pots to make donuts and vetkoek to feed the multitudes and no soul in need of counselling or comfort was ever turned away.
Apostle Peggy de la Rosa, said, ‘Heila called on the Lord many times on our trip to ‘Make Way’ as John the Baptist did and I believe He opened the way for us to reach His people.’
A Memorial Service to celebrate Heila’s life will be held on Saturday 27 June at 3pm at Throne Room International Ministries, 8 Sword Fish Meerensee.
