INKOSI Mpungose from the Ulundi Municipality died on Tuesday.
According to KZN MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Nomusa Dube-Ncube, the Inkosi had been battling with poor health for quite some time and his death had left a ‘big void in the Ulundi Municipality, where he was a pillar of strength’.
‘He will be sorely missed by the community he loved.
‘He was one of our young Amakhosi who are indispensable in our endeavor to transform the institution of traditional leadership and the development of rural areas that are predominantly under Amakhosi.
‘We believe as a rising star and at the age of 30, he was indeed going to make an indelible mark in the lives of his subjects,’ said Dube-Ncube.
Inkosi Mpungose was one of scores of Amakhosi who took advantage of the Basic Leadership and Governance programme introduced by Dube-Ncube to capacitate the SA amakhosi on leadership.
Details for his funeral will be communicated to the media once deliberated on by the family.
