AQUADENE residents have been warned to be on high alert after a spate of burglaries targeting properties with sliding doors were reported.
Last week robbers entered the home of Michael Forbay in Bluewater Lily street and stole a television, DVD player, laptop, cellphone and digital camera during the early hours of Tuesday.
The sliding door was found opened at around 5am.
Meanwhile Community Policing Forum (CPF)representative Phillip Stainbank confirmed the rapid increase in residential burglaries over the last two weeks and said all targeted residences had sliding doors and incidents occurred in the early hours of the morning.
He said the Aquadene CPF have requested police to increase patrols and members have been conducting vehicle patrols at night to beef up visibility.
‘During one of the crimes in progress, we noted a suspect in possession of a weapon and informed police.
‘We urge residents not to confront suspects or take the law into their own hands for their own safety,’ he said.
