BY all contracting to the same security company, the residents of Ponyfish street in Meerensee have formed a united front against crime.
Launched last Friday, the scheme will see security patrols operate from a guard house at the entrance to Ponyfish.
‘The guards on site will be there to patrol the street on a 24-hour basis with certain ‘touch points’ to ensure regular patrolling in key areas as identified by our experts along with the community,’ said Rynhardt Steenkamp, ADT Communications Specialist.
‘Our guards are further equipped with a panic button to ensure effective armed response back-up in case of an emergency.
‘These guards are encouraged to build relationships with our community members in order to gain the necessary trust and give our clients the peace of mind they deserve.’
The scheme was welcomed by Richards Bay SAPS Communications Officer, Capt Debbie Ferreira.
‘There are a number of other streets in the city where similar projects are in operation via other security companies.
‘We appreciate every effort made by residents to ensure their safety, especially by eliminating the risk factor associated with conducting one’s own civilian street patrols.’
