Determined to weather the storms
Local hairdresser, Yolande Henn aims for the Mrs Zululand crown.
SHE survived childhood turmoil and traumas, including the divorce of her parents, a mom diagnosed with cancer, the death of her father, difficult school years, numerous relocations, her own divorce and separation from her young son.
Thirty-two-year-old Mrs Zululand entrant Yolande Henn has weathered many storms, but instead of drowning, she reached for her dreams and qualified herself as a hairdresser, gaining international experience with a two-year contract on a cruise ship.
Now, she is ready for new horizons and once again setting her sails to the wind.
‘I entered Mrs Zululand to challenge myself and inspire other women who also face hard times.
‘Even when my heart was breaking and I contemplated taking my own life, I chose to fight back and the Lord gave me a second chance.
‘I am a loving, hardworking person and I never give up.
‘I have faith and I believe in becoming the best person I can be.’
Her most important priority is raising Jaco Rian, who is five years old and the apple of her eye.
She is also dreaming of new love and a happy family with more children somewhere in the future.
She is passionate about any initiative involving the fight against cancer, supporting abused women and children, tackling unemployment and aiding the recognition of women in business.
She loves Afrikaans and Country music, long walks on the beach and reading a good novel.
