ROCK of Christ Christian School’s Rachelle Ellis is not only an academic whiz, but excels in sport and art as well.
The shy Grade 11 pupil literally leaps out as a top performer after earning a gold medal in long jump at the KZN Athletics Championships held at Kings Park in Durban last year.
Furthermore, she achieves a 98% average for maths, English, Afrikaans, Biblical studies, business studies and computers.
Rachelle has also won medals for hockey and for having been the school’s most ‘Outstanding Christian Character’ for three consecutive years – an annual award given to diligent pupils who show exemplary behaviour.
‘I just work my hardest for God,’ says Rachelle.
‘I feel you should always do your very best and I found time management has helped a lot in this department.
‘I study during weekends to complete a lot of my academic work, saving more time for sport, hobbies and other responsibilities during the week.
‘I’m happy with what I’ve managed to accomplish, but I always strive for more.’
After school, Rachelle hopes to study interior design, either in Cape Town or at a Christian University in Oregon, America.
