Armed robbers hit St Lucia guest house

Owners and guests at the guest house were held at gunpoint this morning.

THE Maputaland Guest House in St Lucia fell victim to armed robbers this morning when four men forced their way onto the premises shortly after 8.30am.

The suspects demanded the owner open the safes, and firearms and money were stolen.

While no one was injured, unconfirmed reports state at least one person, possibly a guest, was tied up.

After bagging their loot, the suspects fled in the owner’s vehicle.

Equipped with a tracking device, the vehicle was found abandoned about 10km away shortly after the robbery took place.

No arrests have been made, however police officers from both Mtubatuba and Empangeni are investigating.
