eSikhaleni academic Qiniso Zungu to study in London
MOVING up in the name of art, Qiniso Zungu (23), is expected to jet off to London and further her studies in September.
The eSikhaleni academic achiever has been accepted to complete her Masters Degree in Media, Drama and Performance Art at the University of East London.
She was granted the opportunity after she graduated with an Honours Degree from Roosevelt University in the United States of America, as part of the exchange programme under the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN).
‘I am excited to have been accepted to this university. Firstly I was selected to do my first semester at Guelph University in Canada, but owing to lack of funds I was unable to participate,’
‘This is another opportunity for me to go abroad and expand my knowledge while representing my country and community, and I am now hoping for sponsorships,’ said Qiniso.
Even though she was accepted to be part of the prestigious university, Qiniso still needs financial support to make her dreams a reality.
‘I need support for my accommodation, tuition, transport, and visa expenses.’
The academic star had a meteoric rise being involved in numerous drama projects.
She has been part of the community upliftment project Love Life, and worked with youth of Sobantu. She also works with Asizame Futhi Orphanage in Pietermaritzburg, and Little Heart Foundation, where she teaches young children performing arts.
In the project she used drama to tackle social ills.
After she graduates, her dream is to open a theatre company in Zululand that will showcase young talent.
