Students face disciplinary action

Unizulu students arrested during a riot will face internal disciplinary actions.

THE University of Zululand (Unizulu) students arrested during the institution’s violent protests last month, will soon face internal disciplinary action.

That is according to the Director of Communications and Marketing Normah Zondo.

Twenty-five students were charged with malicious damage to property following a riot at the KwaDlangezwa campus.

They were released from Mtunzini police custody after a week on R500 bail each.

‘The internal investigation process is currently underway to prepare for disciplinary action.

Unizulu’s SASCO President Wandile Mathebula said the student leadership was negotiating for all charges to be dropped.

‘We don’t think it’s right for them to be charged.’
