Tyron Motzouris performed well at the South African Jetski Boating Association's (SAJSBA) nationals.
IT was a jam-packed day full of jetski racing action at the second round of the South African Jetski Boating Association’s (SAJSBA) nationals at Pelican Island in Richards Bay on Sunday.
Local rider Tyron Motzouris took top honours for the day in the Pro Ski Open and Ski Lite classes.
John de Ponte finished second overall in the Pro Ski Open class and fourth in Ski Lites.
His brother Marcel finished a respectable third in the Pro Runabout Stock class, behind 2013 mens’ world champion Jared Moore and 2013 women’s world champion, Shantè Bukes.
Steven Whittaker, Dylan Moolman and Clinton Gould also put strong finishes in the Booster Cup class, which is a class spectators can enter on the day.
Whittaker finished first overall, Moolman second and Gould bagging a third place.
During lunch, Jared Moore gave the crowd a small taste of what a world championship winning ski could do.
IPSS Emergency Services were kept busy with two small incidents. They were commended for their fast response in getting injured riders out of the water.
‘Overall the SAJSBA Richards Bay National turned out to be a fantastic event and was well organised,’ said SAJSBA Chairman Terry Moore.
Moore confirmed the event had the highest number of rider entries over the past two seasons.
