TWO shottists from the Tugela Commmando Bisley Club (TCBC) in eShowe participatedin the SA Championships in Bloemfontein – and did Zululand proud.
The event was held at the De Brug Military Rifle Range and attracted 154 entries in the target rifle, .303, free rifle and free target rifle disciplines.
The Grand Champion was Peter Haasbroek with a total score of 657.61 points.
Brian Digby and Mark English from the TCBC and Bryn Reece-Edwards from Nottingham Road made up the KZN contingent.
English shot in the free target rifle class and achieved a first place in the Brodley Memorial competition, shot at 900 metres.
He also earned a merit award.
Mark did well in the long range aggregate events, finishing 11th out of 31 shottists, while in the short range aggregate he finished 25th.
This was a great achievement, considering it was the first time he competed at the nationals.
Digby waves the flag
