eSikhaleni pushes for ZCCI division
eSikhaleni business owners suggest township's ZCCI division.
A NEW Zululand Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ZCCI) division was suggested during a business workshop at Hlanganani Community Hall in eSikhaleni on Monday.
Business owners said an eSikhaleni division was essential in order to focus on their unique concerns and challenges.
Event organiser and businessman Lindani Zikhali, said the aim is to unite business people from the area and develop their skills.
‘It is necessary to have our own branch that will focus on our needs. Our businesses are different from those in Empangeni and Richards Bay. We need to organise workshops and conferences that will work for us, and create our own networking sessions,’ said Zikhali.
He said business information must be shared during ward meetings and involve the youth.
According to the ZCCI’s Acting Office Manager, Monique Grobler, 30 businesses are required to join the chamber before the request can be considered.
‘We need business to speak in one voice, and then we can consider establishing an eSikhaleni division. We are encouraging them to work together, and this could be achieved,’ she said.
Grobler also offered business people information about joining the chamber and its benefits.
‘When businesses become part of the ZCCI, we are able to offer them assistance through various workshops. We bring the latest service information, bring South African Revenue Services (SARS) direct to businesses, assist with business plans, administration and finances by referring businesses to the relevant people,’ said Grobler.
