Count down to Big five MTB

THE 2015 Bell Big5 Mountain Bike Series kicks off on Sunday, 3 May.

THE 2015 Bell Big5 Mountain Bike Series kicks off on Sunday, 3 May with the Zini River Estate Big5 Buffalo.

Challenge registration will take place on Saturday, 2 May at the Mtunzini Country Club from 11am until 3pm which will allow competitors to register for all five races in the series.

The venue for the Buffalo will be the Mtunzini Country Club.

Once they leave the country club the riders will be able to enjoy the beauty of Mtunzini and the neighbouring Zini River Estate and uMlalazi Nature Reserve.

The 50km challenge will start at 8.30am and the entry fee is R165 per rider.

The popular 25km will set off half-an-hour later at 9am with an entry fee of R135.

The two 10km races, numbers of which have grown in leaps and bounds, will see the riders leave the country club at 9.30am (R70 per rider), while the timed event starts at 9.35am at a cost of R60 per rider.

The first 500 riders through registration on race day will receive a goody bag and T-shirt.

Series dates

After the Buffalo, the series will move to Richards Bay for the all-new Elephant Challenge on Sunday, 7 June.

The next stops will be the BuildIt Kwambo Lion on Sunday, 19 July, the Monzi Hippo Challenge on Sunday, 6 September and finishing with the Hluhluwe SuperSpar Rhino Charge two weeks later on Sunday, 20 September.

The Big 5 Series prize giving will held on Saturday, 17 October at a venue still to be confirmed.
