Crime increase – does anyone take note?

Letter of the Week

I WRITE this with the intention of highlighting the rise of theft in Empangeni’s Kildare area in recent weeks.

Last week a person in Sigma Road had three people attempt to come into his home around 6pm. This is a road next to Bryden Road.

The intruders where interrupted by the owners walking out of their home. They fired a gunshot and then escaped.

The owner had pressed the panic button to the alarm company.

Instead of a rapid instant response he received a phone call from the company asking him if all is okay.

Point is if the person had been shot and was lying in a pool of blood, he would be unable to answer the phone and would be in need of serious medical attention.

Also time had passed allowing the intruders a clean getaway because of lack of instant response by the alarm company.

What do we have to do to live safely in peace, while others continue to enforce terror in our neighbourhoods.

Scenario number two – person comes home to Shepard Road during the day at 10am. He leaves minutes later only to have his home cleaned out.

No one around his place heard or saw anything.

But a road away the alarms people park off in the shaded park. Why?

Please patrol guys, this is the only way to enforce a sense of authority in the areas.

Scenario three – a day later a person had his car broken into inside the yard in Bryden Road in the early hours of the morning. This is a road next to Shepard Road.

All this in a matter of a week, and all roads next to each other.

Does that not highlight an increase of robberies and theft in this area?

We are frightened and terrorised and we seek a safer place to live.

Any suggestions on how we can make this town a shining example of what once it was – a peaceful community to live in?

Police, communities and security companies please take note of the incidents happening in this area.
