Thanda head inland in search of points

Amabhubesi head for the highlands.

THANDA Royal Zulu resume their quest for maximum points when they travel to Highlands Park on Saturday following the three-week break for Nedbank Cup and international matches.

Amabhubesi are handily placed at second spot on the National First Division log and there is nothing to suggest they will not add another three points to their season’s tally.

In 22 games this season, Highlands Park have only managed six wins and five draws, scoring 11 and conceding 24 goals along the way to accumulating 23 league points.

Thanda, on the other hand, have won 11 and drawn eight.

They have scored the second highest number of goals (34), just one fewer than Jomo Cosmos and through a miserly defence have let in only 17, just one more than have log leaders Golden Arrows.

In fact, they have taken 13 of 18 available points in the 2015 half of the season.

On paper, Thanda should add to both their goal tally and log points by some distance.

Golden Arrows have a far more intimidating match in prospect against a Witbank Spurs team that is showing some recent form despite languishing near the NFD basement.

Thanda will be back in action on Wednesday, 8 April at the uMhlathuze Stadium where they will need to be at their best to beat Black Leopards, who are lying 6th and are buoyant after their 2-1 Nedbank Cup victory over Kaiser Chiefs.

Two Cape derbies are the pick of the weekend’s action and will have a great bearing on the promotion place chasers as Cape Town All Stars (4th) meet Santos (10th) on Friday and FC Cape Town (7th) host Vasco da Gama (9th) on Saturday.
