ANC Musa Dladla Region leadership and supporters marched to Empangeni Magistrates Court on Friday, to say 'enough is enough' with those involved in criminal activities
ANC Musa Dladla Region says it has had enough with people who hide behind their positions of authority, yet they do crime.
This was the sentiment which reigned throughout a protest march held by the branch in Empangeni on Friday afternoon.
Hundreds of ANC supporters gathered at the corner of Higgs and Main Road, some from as far away as Nkandla.
All the way to Empangeni Magistrate’s Court to hand over a memorandum of grievances against crime, the marchers sang struggle songs, cursing those involved in child raping, killing and robbery.
They also castigated police who make dockets disappear, and corrupt magistrates.
Musa Dladla Region Chairperson, Thulani Mashaba told the media: ‘As a Region, we condemn all those involved in criminal activities. We want them to rot in prison.
‘We demand the law must be tougher on these criminals.
‘We were very disappointed when Inkosi Zenzo Zungu was arrested, Inkosi Zwelombango Khoza, and all those implicated in the killings of innocent people from their communities.
‘We condemn Inkosi Zungu for saying people must go and march at court when they (Zungu and his co-accused) appear again against the crimes they are accused of.
‘We know at the moment they are only suspects, but we demand they come forward and explain why they are being suspected of these murders.
‘No one is above the law- even ‘Mashaba’ himself will have to face the law, if he is guilty of a crime,’ Mashaba said.
‘All the magistrates guilty of being bribed, the police who make dockets disappear, and the corrupt prosecutors must face the music.
‘We also demand they must finish the cases of crime they are working on, and send the criminals to prison,’ an angry Mashaba said.
