Melmoth hosts Heart Beat Country Festival

Melmoth, a town with a big heart.

MELMOTH is preparing for its ‘Heart Beat Country Festival’ under the banner of ‘a small town with a big heart’.

The festival will be held at the Melmoth Golf Club on Friday and Saturday, 29 and 30 May.

Folklore stories and children theatre performances will take centre stage on Friday, with a potjiekos supper to end the day’s activities.

On Saturday, the surrounds of Melmoth will be explored either on a 30km bike route, or on foot.

For the golfers, a sponsored golf day will keep the eagles and birdies happy.

While waiting for the bikers or golfers to return, a country kitchen, exhibits, craft stalls and jumping castles are among the activities on offer.

Want to learn a new hobby? Various arts, crafts and outdoor activity classes will be presented.

This will include baking, hip hop dance, painting, gardening, flower arranging, horse riding, target and archery shooting to photography and fishing.

The day will end with a performance by Wynand en Chereé Strydom who have recently brought out their latest CD, ‘The Highwaymen’. Songs of, among others, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson will feature.
