Fraudster posing as Unizul employee pleads guilty

The 24-year-old con artist admitted to defrauding two women by pretending that she was an employee of the university.

A WOMAN, who swindled two students out of their varsity enrolment fees by pretending that she was employed at the University of Zululand, pleaded guilty in the Richards Bay District Court yesterday.

Zodumo Mkhize (24) of Nzalabantu admitted to defrauding Nozipho Mdletshe and Nomula Ndlovu by pretending that she was an employee of the university and had the power to assist them with the admission of students.

The women gave her a fee of R3 950 each and copies of their identity documents, only to discover that Mkhize had tricked them and had stolen their money.

She was convicted on both counts of fraud and the case was remanded for sentence on 19 March.
