Richards Bay school reopens revamped restaurant
The main aim is to empower and equip young people who show promise in the field of fine cuisine and hospitality.
‘Fleur-de-Lis’ means ‘flower of the lily’, a traditional French symbol representing French royalty and symbolising perfection, light and life.
So, in a glitzy grand opening suitable to host blue bloods, the aptly named Fleur-de-Lis restaurant opened its doors at the Richards Bay High School.
Guests were presented with an array of the best cuisine in the form of a canapés of all kinds prepared by Grade 12 students as a practical part of their hospitality subject.
The spread was a feast for the eyes and taste buds, presented in a festive atmosphere of piano music and small town warmth.
The restaurant was completely revamped with local artist and businesswoman Isabella van Schalkwyk and teacher Elize Meyer steering the project, assisted by sponsors from the community.
