Two appear on mass murder charges

Four killed in cattle theft incident.

A POLICE task team led by W/O Sithole from Mbongolwane SAPS made a breakthrough in a case in which four people were murdered in the Ekombe area last year.

Mkhubeni Zulu (22) appeared in the Ekombe Magistrate’s Court on four counts of murder with co-accused Thandanani Khanyile (27), who was arrested on Thursday, 19 February.

It is alleged that on 14 June last year Sipho Myaka (62), his wife Lindiwe Zulu (61), herdsman Philani Mbatha (40) and neighbour Majuqa Linda (43) were at their homestead in the Shobalenyathi area outside Ekombe, when they were approached by a group of suspects who allegedly shot and killed them at around 7.30pm.

Cattle theft is believed to be motive behind the incident.
