The Earlyact Club and the Rotary Club of Empangeni were honoured to have Frances Mary Taylor as the guest of honour.
Frances taught both art and sport at St Catherine’s from 1970 to 1992 and during that time she played an instrumental part in the organisation and instillation of the current school pool.
She began swimming at the age of 10 and has been involved in the sport ever since.
She attended her first Nationals event in 1968. She is an international referee and has travelled to Rome, Australia and New Zealand.
She coached the Malawi swim team for the Olympics and was very involved in the Paralympics in 2012.
KZN swimming has awarded her with a lifetime membership for all she has done for the sport.
She has now officially retired from club swimming, however, is still involved in swimming and attends galas all over the province as an official or referee.
