Cigarettes to the value of R195 000 were confiscated.

A MAN was arrested on the N2 near Pongola for being in possession of counterfeit cigarettes to the value of R195 000.

After failing to stop at the Golela Port of Entry, patrol guards chased the Nissan bakkie, arrested the 38-year-old driver and seized the counterfeit goods.

The suspect, Lucas Bongani Bhanda, was charged with the possession of counterfeit goods and appeared in the Pongola Magistrate’s Court last Thursday.
