UPDATE: Frara case postponed

John Frara is under psychiatric observation.

THE case of John Frara, accused of murdering his wife, Carolyn in their Empangeni home two years ago, has been postponed once again.

Frara made a brief appearance in the Empangeni Magistrate’s Court last week, where the matter was postponed to 15 April.

Frara’s attorney, Johan van der Westhuizen, last year submitted a medical note detailing a recommendation by a local doctor that Frara should seek medical treatment from a specialised physician.

Frara is currently under observation at Fort Napier Psychiatric Hospital in Pietermaritzburg and the court awaits the results of the psychiatrist’s assessment.

It is alleged the couple were involved in an argument in the kitchen after Carolyn returned home from a dance practice.

She was attacked and suffered multiple stab wounds to her head and body.

In accordance with an agreement made with the defence, Frara’s bail was not opposed.
