SMALL in number but big on achievements, Round Table uMhlathuze 261 held its 20th induction dinner and awards evening at Don Carlos restaurant at the waterfront on Friday evening.
Boela Bekker took over the reins after being inducted by Outgoing Chairman, Richard Stone.
The latter reflected on a busy year that had seen the group assisting or supporting fellow tables, including: Mtunzini 250 – MTB race, Richards Bay 200 – Winter Knights and Boogie Ball, Empangeni 61 – Stage show and Welkom 40 – Winter Knights.
Local initiatives saw R51 670 raised during the SA Disabled Golfers Association golf day, R3 750 worth of Bandana Day sales to the Sunflower Fund and ongoing financial support for the Izulu Orphan Projects.
Fellowship events, raids on five North Coast and three out-of-area Tables, and representation at Area Conferences demonstrated member commitment.
Incoming Chairman, Boela Bekker looked ahead to another fruitful year which will see RT261 for the first time host an October Fest in addition to regular fundraisers, while also seeking to increase member numbers.
The new office bearers for 2015 are: Chairman – Boela Bekker, Vice Chair – Hubert Beuken, Treasurer – Morne de Jager, Clubhouse and Fellowship – Carlos Ehlers.
The occasion was also used to congratulate Carlos Ehlers on his impending appointment as Area Chairman, and to thank Richard Stone, who now graduates to the 41ers, on his impeccable record of service as a Tabler.
