Thanda blown away in Cape Town

Thanda drilled in Cape Town.

THANDA Royal Zulu were soundly sunk by Vasco Da Gama on Sunday, going down 3-0 in their worst display and biggest defeat of the season.

They did manage to hold onto their third place in the National First Division but lost ground to top two sides Golden Arrows, who beat FC Cape Town 2-0 and Jomo Cosmos, who triumphed 2-1 over Milano United.

Following their Saturday wins, Arrows now have 36 points and Cosmos 35, while the Amabhubesi remain on 31, trailing but still well in the race for automatic promotion.

Meanwhile, Thanda will have little chance to relax on their return to Richards Bay.

Besides having to sort themselves out after the weekend’s catastrophe, ahead of them lies the daunting Nedbank Cup clash with Mamelodi undowns at the Loftus Stadium on Saturday.

A showing such as they made against Orlando Pirates last year could see them cause a major upset.

Next NFD match is a home one against rock-bottom side Maluti FT at 3.30pm on Saturday 28 February.
