ECONOMIC Freedom Fighter (EFF) members of Parliament were forced to leave the chambers after they demanded and chanted, ‘Pay back the money’ in last night’s State of the Nation Address.
Following the removal of the MPs, the DA questioned the speaker of Parliament, Baleka Mbete , whether the personnel who removed the EFF MPs were members of the Parliamentary security force, or the SAPS.
It’s not clear whether the security personnel were Parliament’s own protection services or if members of the police were involved.
The chairperson, Thandi Modise’s response, ‘I can not sit here and tell who is security and who is not’.
This response was all it took to have the DA MPs leave the House of Parliament.
Seven members of the EFF were injured in the removal of the MPs.
