Thanda sharpens claws before Wednesday’s match

Thanda resume quest for PSL promotion.

THEY are already within touching distance of the PSL ranks, and Wednesday’s home fixture against Baroka FC will show how much effort the Thanda Royal Zulu lions put in over the mid-season break to make that dream come true.

The teams drew 0-0 in the first round.

Head coach Vladislav Heric and his valued assistant Asanda Mvalo, along with the fitness and goalkeeper trainers, have sharpened the Amabhubesi pride to a unit unrecognisable from the one that started this season’s campaign.

The speed, understanding and creativity have gone up by many notches and the boys are just itching to get on the field and score the goals that will lead to the giant leap to PSL soccer.

The following mission in their quest will be a visit to the Cape to take on Vasco da Gama on Sunday and given their superb form on the road they are confident of bringing back three points.

Currently lying fourth and just four points behind log leaders Jomo Cosmos, Thanda have the best defensive record in the league and boast the top goal scorer in Ace Bhengu.

They have beaten all three sides that sit above them, so confidence is high.

Wednesday’s game kicks off at 3pm at the uMhlathuze Stadium.

‘It won’t be a simple job getting promoted but we know we can do it,’ said Amabhubesi captain Diamond Thopola.

‘It’s never easy, especially playing in Cape Town, but we are well prepared and ready for anything.

‘We have a few new players, we are super motivated and we are totally committed.’
