AN unlicensed driver has appeared in court after an accident that resulted in the death of a 12-year-old boy.
Phindile Mlambo was killed in a hit-and-run last Friday while Dumoluhle Masuku (4) was seriously injured.
The incident took place in the Machibini Area at KwaMsane.
The driver, Thembinkosi Sibiya (18) reportedly fled the scene but was later brought by his parents to the KwaMsane police station, and was arrested. According to SAPS spokesperson Captain Jabulani Mdletshe, Sibya was given a car by his father but had no valid driver’s license.
Reports indicate Sibya was driving down the road when he lost control of the vehicle, causing it to plough into the two boys.
Phindile died on the scene and Dumokuhle was taken to hospital.
Sibya appeared in the KwaMsane Magistrate’s Court charged with culpable homicide.
