Driver ploughs into cop car in Meerensee

A YOUNG Richards Bay driver appeared in court yesterday after his car was involved in an accident late Wednesday night and he fled the scene.

To make matters worse, the vehicle he had the misfortune of crashing into was a police van.

Byron Mulder (24) was eventually tracked down to Ngwelezane, where he was arrested and charged with reckless and negligent driving.

However, no reference was made to gunshots allegedly fired at the accident scene, as widely reported on BBM and other social media by residents of Meerensee who heard the loud bangs at about 11.30pm.
