Teen con artist wanted by police

A 19-year-old woman has defrauded pensioners out of thousands of rands.

EMPANGENI SAPS are in search of 19-year-old Mbalenhle Ngema believed to be the mastermind behind a scam pocketing thousands from pensioners.

The teenager who hails from uLundi has allegedly swindled enormous amounts of money from pensioners across the district, promising them employment for their grandchildren.

‘She has introduced herself to elderly people as an employee of Transnet – in their recruitment team,’ said Empangeni SAPS spokesperson, Captain Mbongeni Mdlalose.

‘She targets vulnerable and concerned pensioners promising to secure employment for their grandchildren at Transnet. She has conned Zululand’s senior citizens of such a large amount of money, it cannot be publicised,’ he said.

Ngema is sought by police, any person with information regarding her whereabouts is urged to contact Investigating Officer, Detective Warrant Officer Calvin Vandayar on 082 5570645 or 035 9071450.
