TOP achievers from Richards Bay Minerals’ Bambisanani Learning Community Programme received study grants and laptops at the company’s annual handover, which took place on Tuesday in KwaMbonambi.
The learning programme is executed by RBM, in partnership with the Department of Education and Grantleigh, and sees learners from the mining giant’s host communities tutored in subjects such as math, science, English and career guidance – fundamental for every young South African’s career.
The top 10 students from the 13 various rural schools were each financed with a R20 000 grant to assist them in furthering their tertiary education, with the top three outstanding achievers being given laptops.
RBM’s General Manager for Communications and Corporate Relations, Fundi Dlamini said they are pleased to be giving these young people a chance.
‘The results are so encouraging and as RBM we realise that addressing the needs of our communities can only be done through such partnerships.
‘We wish these young people the best and will help them as best we can to realise their life’s goals.’
