Thanda draw Sundowns

Sundowns are six-time winners of the PSL and presently just one place below log leaders, Kaiser Chiefs.

LAST year it was the bold Buccaneers.

This time it’s the mighty Mamelodi Sundowns.
Thanda Royal Zulu FC were pitted against ‘The Brazilians’ when the draw for the 2015 Nedbank Cup last 32 was made at the SuperSport studios on Thursday night.

The draw saw the 16 Premier Soccer League teams being joined by eight clubs from the National First Division and eight from the SAFA leagues and was conducted by PSL General Manager Derek Blanckensee.
Although the game will be played in Pretoria (date still to be announced), there is no doubt the Amabhubesi will see this as a positive challenge, rather than a negative obstacle.
For a start, Thanda have always played well and achieved their best results on the road – travelling seems to bring out the best in the Bay boys.

Secondly, the better the opposition, the more they raise their game.
Who will ever forget them almost sinking the Pirates’ boat last year when they went down on penalties after a 2-0 lead going into extra time?
Add to that the fact that the Thanda pride has in their numbers the prolific alpha male Ace Bhengu, who heads the NFD sharpshooters’ list with 12 goals already this season.

He would love to add to his tally against Sundowns, who are six-time winners of the PSL and presently just one place below log leaders, Kaiser Chiefs.
Bring it on – we’re ready to roar!
