Shave and spray your locks for a worthy cause

Play your part by shaving or spraying your locks for CANSA's annual Shavathon

BECOME part of a life changing event next month as CANSA hosts their 12th annual Shavathon in support of cancer patients.

Bring your family members, friends or colleagues along to shave or spray in solidarity with cancer survivors on Saturday, 28 February at your nearest shopping centre.

The benchmark for 2015 has been set after the support of the 2014 Shavathon events resulted in a staggering R5-million raised.

How you can help:

•Adults can shave or spray their head for a donation of R50 (or more) and children under 12-years-old for R25.

•Volunteers play a huge part in making the Shavathon a success and anyone interested can contact Lizelle van Zyl on 035 7725677 or 079 171159.

•You can also host your own private Shavathon at your school, workplace or institution from 2 – 6 March. Find the rules and guidelines on www.shavathon.org.za.

•Raise funds by creating your own online fundraising project for Shavathon.

•CANSA Shavathon will no longer do a ‘clean shave’ due to risk factors – the lowest number you can shave is a number one.

•Volunteers will be equipped to assist those wanting to donate their ponytail. Remember that your hair must be 25 cm or longer, clean and dry. Treated or dyed hair may also be donated. This hair will be used to make wigs for patients undergoing chemotherapy. Dreadlocks are not accepted.

All funds raised at Shavathon events help fund the Care Centre’s service to those affected by cancer in the community.
