Powerless to get action

Dangerous connections in Brackenham.

BRACKENHAM resident Velo Govender claims he has been waiting for more than six months for something to be done about the dangerous state of the electrical supply cables to his Lobatum street home.

This after fires in the adjacent green belt caused damage to the bases of a number of wooden poles distributing power to the suburb, including the pole close to the back wall of his yard.

‘As you can see, the pole has fallen and only the wall is stopping it from falling down totally.

‘I have had people from the municipality here who have promised to fix the problem and make it safe, but so far nothing has been done,’ said Govender.

‘I am worried somebody might get an electric shock.

‘The main cable to the house would be on the ground if it was not for trees that are holding it up.

‘A quick walk around our streets will show similar dangerous electrical feeds at a number of places.’
