WITH a thumping 4-1 away win against Witbank Spurs on Saturday, Thanda Royal Zulu FC have sent out a strong warning to other NFD title-chasers.
Phumelele Ace Bhengu took his season’s league tally to 12 as he banged home a brace within 30 minutes as the Amabhubesi raced into a 2-0 lead and although the home side pulled one back, Thanda were far from done.
Velile Zitha and Michael Gumede added to the goal count and Thanda go into the mid-season break full of confidence and their eyes firmly set on PSL promotion.
They sit in fourth place on 28 points, breathing down the necks of log leaders Jomo Cosmos (32), Golden Arrows (30) and Milano United (29) – all of whom they have beaten this year.
With good news on the sponsorship front soon to be officially announced, Thanda could not have wished for a better way to celebrate the festive season.
The NFD resumes on 11 February with a home fixture against Baroka FC.
