WHEN a six-year-old girl of eMvutshini Reserve in Gingindlovu was sent to call her uncle from another room in October, she never imagined her innocence would be robbed by her relative.
It was revealed that the 28-year-old man (his name has been withheld to protect the victim’s identity) lured the victim onto his bed by offering her chips and sweets.
The child’s stepmother had asked the child to call the uncle from his room, to fix the generator.
According to the stepmother, the family became concerned when the child did not return. She told the Zululand Observer that another child, who was playing outside, witnessed the incident and informed the family.
‘It was obvious that something had happened. When we asked the victim she admitted that she had been raped. I called the child’s father who immediately informed the police,’ she said.
‘The other child told us the uncle had also asked her to climb on his bed earlier. He used chips and sweets so that he could do his dirty work.’
