Mining giant digs up fresh talent

Jacques Venter has joined RBM as General Manager Technical and Asset Management.

DESPITE the global economic turbulence, Richards Bay Minerals’ (RBM) Managing Director Mpho Mothoa is confident that his team has what it takes to face 2015 head-on.

Mothoa recently announced the appointment of two new General Managers to his senior leadership team.

Jacques Venter has joined RBM as General Manager Technical and Asset Management, effective from 1 December.

Venter cut his teeth in the engineering field and read for a Degree in Mechanical Engineering, as well as an Engineer’s Certificate of Competency for both Mines and Works, and Factories.

He earned his stripes in asset management and has held various senior management positions in the mining and heavy manufacturing industries.

Until recently, Venter filled the role of Chief Engineering Manager for Transnet Port Terminals.

Ronny Nzimande, the second new recruit, will join RBM on 1 January as General Manager Human Resources.

When Ndzimande takes over the reins of the HR division, his years of experience with FMCG company Unilever will stand him in good stead.

His experience and skills span various senior HR and training roles with large organisations across South Africa.

He holds a Higher Diploma in Education, a Bachelor of Accounting Science Degree and a Masters in Business Leadership Programme

In a statement Mothoa said, ‘The addition of these two general managers will build on the existing strengths of the organisation as it moves to solidify its strategy to ensure future sustainability and growth.’

Mothoa believes having employees with the critical skills is what moves an organisation from strength to strength.

‘We operate in a globally competitive market, so it’s vital that we have the right people in the right roles as we work towards our short-, medium- and long-term business objectives. ‘It’s not easy finding individuals with the caliber of Jacques and Ronny and we are looking forward to having them on board,’ he added.
