THIS letter is in response to an article in the Zululand Observer on 17 November ‘No freebies for illegal merchants’.

There is so much filth lying around at the Shoprite entrance in Richards Bay with all the vendors being allowed to do as they please.

Then go to Taxi City and see the filth that is thrown around there.

I am so happy you started this story, but now the question is, ‘for who are the freebies only?’

Empangeni and most municipal areas in town , this includes Richards Bay , both have ‘filthy appearances’.

Municipalities must remember that we all are citizens of this city and must be treated equally.

Another issue – more than 250 000 tourists flock to our beaches over the festive season – what has been done about toilets?

That’s what you should worry about, the bad impression the filth and dirt leaves.
