Rugby Club throws bull for victory

EMPANGENI Rugby Football Club were bang on target during the finals of the Empangeni Darts Sports League on Wednesday evening at the Empangeni Rugby Club.

The rugby lads proved that they can play darts, when beating Little Portugal 6-2 to claim the bragging rights and title for 2014.

Rounds one and two saw Little Portugal claim dominant wins, 6-1 and 6-4 respectively.

But the Rugby brutes bounced back in rounds three and four, winning 6-0 and 6-1 to force a final round with winner taking all.

Little Portugal was represented by Willie van Rooyen, Ryan McEnery, Justus Kilian, Miguel de Carvalho, Darryl Orchison and Kobus Wernich, with Hansie van Rooyen, Pieter van Rooyen, Victor Campher, Chris Els, Warren Graff and Lee Graff playing for the Rugby Club.

The players stepped up to the line for cricket, which saw a dominant performance from the home side, which resulted in an early 1-0 lead.

Killer saw Little Portugal fight back with the scoreboard reading 3-1 to Rugby Club.

501 is where individual talent and skill was showed off, with the home team extending their lead to 5-2.

The first game of Killer cemented the Little Portugal’s teams fate.

The Graff brother combination of Warren and Lee proved too strong for Willie and Justus, resulting in Rugby Club claiming a 6-2 victory.

A friendly league will start on 26 November, with the new league flighting off in January.

Entry is free, one just needs a team of 6 players to enter the competition.
