A WOMAN who hitchhiked a lift in Richards Bay was attacked and raped by a motorist on Saturday morning in Alton.
It was reported that the incident happened near the Mondi area and when the victim attempted to flee from the red vehicle, she was chased, apprehended and sexually assaulted.
The man then stole her handbag and fled the scene.
